We foster a friendly, stimulating atmosphere of shared knowledge. We teach you not just about psychology, but how to be a psychologist. You will become part of a young, enthusiastic department, taught by staff who are recognised experts in their field, covering many varied aspects of behaviour. There is a supportive relationship between undergraduate and postgraduate students, resulting in complementary learning at all levels.
As an undergraduate student, you may study Psychology, as part of a combined honours or as a single honours degree. As a combined honours subject, Psychology can be successfully paired with many other subjects, including Anthropology, Biology, Education and Human Development, and Sociology. We are one of the few Psychology departments in the UK to offer such flexibility of combinations, which allow you to tailor your degree around specific areas of interest.
We provide a suite of postgraduate master’s and conversion programmes that build on an undergraduate degree in psychology and draw on/reflect our expertise in cutting-edge, research-led teaching.
Research within the department enjoys an international reputation, attracting high-quality students and staff and helping to generate major funding for our renowned research centres and institutes. The live nature of our research means you benefit from the latest thinking and findings, meaning the knowledge you gain over your degree is as up to date as it can be, helping to guide you towards your own research project in your final year.
