Research Projects

Parental representations and children's development (2004 - to present)

This research investigates the relationships between parental representations of child development, parent-child interactions and child behaviour. A series of studies involving parents and pre-school children is in progress. Children's ability to understand emotion is being studied in relation to parental reflective function and mind-mindedness. A small grant from the British Academy is supporting this work and an ESRC quota award-funded postgraduate student (Gaby Illingworth, 2010 onwards) is being supervised in this area.
